Zhang Xianzhong's "Silver Legend" is true! Where is "Jiangkou Shenyin Site"?

Hello everyone, here is the interesting history editor, today I will tell you about Zhang Xianzhong's "Silver Legend" story, welcome to pay attention.

Speaking of Zhang Xianzhong, everyone is no stranger. During the three years of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1630 AD), he participated in the peasant uprising in Mizhi, and became the emperor in Chengdu in 1644, with the title of "Daxi". According to historical records, when Zhang Xianzhong defeated Sichuan, he sunk a large amount of gold and silver into the bottom of the river. This river is the "Jiang River", and the specific place for Shen Yin is in Jiangkou Town, an ancient town in Pengshan District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province.

For hundreds of years, I don't know how many people came to seek Zhang Xianzhong's Shen Yin. So, how much gold and silver did this dedication go to the bottom of the river? Why did it attract so much attention?

In fact, as early as 2005, seven silver ingots were dug out of the Minjiang River when the local water supply project was built. After the dealer's appraisal, it was determined that this was the silver ingot of the Ming Dynasty and belonged to the country's precious cultural relics.

According to the shape and inscription of silver ingots, we can know that this is the tax silver levied during the Chongzhen period. The most important point is that the place where the silver ingot was found coincided with the place where Zhang Xianzhong fought in Sichuan. This should be the place where Zhang Xianzhong sinks Yin. By 2010, it was officially established as the "Yangkou Shenyin Site."

Before liberation, most of the villagers here lived as laborers or fishermen at Jiangkou Pier. After the reform and opening up, the villagers' lives improved, and they began to grow crops, fruits, and farmhouses, and their income was much better than before. In addition, the folk customs here are simple, and the villagers have no dispute with the world. But it is such a peaceful small village that hides a big "wealth dream". The villagers' grandparents lived on the banks of the Minjiang River in Zhang Xianzhong and Shen Yin, and they grew up listening to this story. There is even an ancient nursery rhyme here:

"Shi Long vs. Shi Hu , gold and silver, who knows well and bought Chengdu Mansion."

Although this is only a nursery rhyme, it has also become a treasure hunting secret for countless treasure hunters. For hundreds of years, I don't know how many people went for treasure hunting based on this nursery rhyme!

By the end of 2015, more than a dozen experts from the National Museum of China's Comprehensive Archaeology Department and the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology began to study and explore the Zhang Yinzhong Shenyin site and cultural relics. In the end, it is concluded that the record of Jiangyin Shenyin is authentic. In addition, this area was also one of the central areas of Zhang Xianzhong and Shen Yin.

In order to explore Zhang Xianzhong's treasure in this river, in April 2016, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage officially approved the archaeological excavation of the "Jiangkou Shenyin Site".

At that time, the Shenyin site was located at the confluence of the main channel of the Minjiang River and the Jinjiang River, and no trace of the ancient shipwreck was found in this area. So in the end, after some research and discussion, the experts decided to adopt the "cofferdam embankment" method for excavation. After the water level of the Minjiang River began to decline during December, archeological staff began to prepare to start the drainage equipment. Only after the water was pumped clean can the excavation work be carried out.

After the water drained, staff began to search carefully in the riverbed using metal detectors.

In the end, more than 30,000 cultural relics were unearthed, such as Zhang Xianzhong's book of concubines and concubines (pictured above), Xi Wang's gold and silver coins awarded by the Great Western Kingdom. In addition, there are many beautiful and precious objects.
