Biographies

In the early years, the story was unknown. By 530, he had become the treasurer of Emperor Justinian, and later he was in charge of commanding the emperor's eunuch guard as a senior military officer.

In the Nika uprising in 532, he was entrusted by the emperor to persuade the Blue Party to support the emperor, and he contributed to the peace insurrection.

In 538, he led 7,000 people to Italy to support Belizeru to fight the East Goths. They were recalled to the castle because of disagreement between them, but they were still trusted by the emperor.

He was commissioned in 545 to recruit barbarian mercenaries because he was popular among barbarians.

In 551, he eventually replaced Bailey Saliu as commander in chief, and led more than 20,000 troops, including a large number of barbarian mercenaries, by road to Italy. He achieved a series of brilliant victories through ingenious tactics and formations. He won in the Battle of Tajina in 552, and King Totira of the East Goth was seriously injured and died. Later, in the Battle of Cassirinum in 554, the Franks and Allemannis were defeated and Italy was conquered. The Grand Triumph was held in Rome, and was the last general to hold a formal triumph in Rome.

He has since been stationed in Italy. The story of his later years is unknown. He was welcomed by soldiers, especially barbarian mercenaries, partly because he had adequate financial resources to support him.
