Xiong Botao -Founding Major General

Xiong Botao (1904-1975) was originally named Xiong Huaxuan, alias Xiong Hankui, and was born in Huangpi District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in November 1926. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of major general and the second-level August 1st medal, the first-level independent freedom medal, and the first-level liberation medal. He died of illness in Beijing on October 21, 1975.

Xiong Botao joined the Ningdu Uprising in 1931. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he was the Chief of the Combat Section of the 11th Division of the Fifth Army Red Army Corps, the First Regiment, the Chief of Staff of the Eighth Division of the Red Army, and the Chief of Staff of the Second Division of the Red Army. Participated in the Long March. During the Anti-Japanese War, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Independent First Regiment of the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army , the Chief of Staff of the First Military Division of the Jinchaji Military Region, the Commander of the Fourth Army Division, the Chief of the Staff of the Jinchaji Military Region Command, and the Chinese People ’s Anti-Japanese Military and Political Affairs. Dean of the Second Campus of the University, Chief of Staff of Henan People's Anti-Japanese Army. During the War of Liberation, he served as Chief of Staff of the Second Column of the Central Plains Military Region, Chief of Staff of the Songjiang Military Region, Deputy Commander of the 12th Column of the Northeast Field Army, and Deputy Chief of the 49th Army of the Fourth Field Army.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as deputy chief of staff of the People's Liberation Army Public Security Forces, deputy commander of the Beijing Weijing District, deputy commander of the Public Security Forces, and consultant to the Second Artillery of the People's Liberation Army. He was awarded the rank of major general in 1955.
