How can I reduce my inguinal hernia by myself?
Apply ice or cold compress to the hernia for several minutes to reduce swelling and allow an easier reduction (see the image below). Ice pack is applied to patient with left inguinal hernia in Trendelenburg position. To reduce an abdominal hernia, lay the patient supine.
What should you not do with an inguinal hernia?
- Avoid heavy lifting when you can. Lifting puts stress on the groin.
- When you must lift, don’t bend over. Lift objects by using the legs, not the back.
- Eat high-fiber foods and drink plenty of water.
- Maintain a healthy body weight.
Can you heal inguinal hernia naturally?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. While a hernia cannot heal itself, it can almost always be treated effectively with surgery.
