AquaTru uses a four-stage osmosis process to remove 78 contaminants from your water, which is the same process used by all the major water bottle brands. Basically, that means that it makes your tap water just as good and pure as bottled water without having to use plastic bottles.

Is AquaTru made of plastic?
AquaTru containers are made from what is considered the safest, purest plastic available – TRITAN by Eastman. This is the same plastic used for the VitaMix food processor and it is free of any BPA and BPS additives.

Are water filters made of plastic?
Many water filters are made of some form of plastic, and recycling them may be more difficult than just placing them in your recycling bin. In fact, many water filters are not recyclable at all.
Where is AquaTru filters made?
AquaTru is designed in California, and the final assembly is done in China using high-quality components from around the world. All components have been independently tested and certified to NSF standards by the US laboratory IAPMO.
Do water filters have plastic?
It should be noted that most water filters do contain some plastic, even if the pitchers themselves are a different material. There are also water filters that screw onto the tap and countertop water filters that attach to taps that have less plastic.

Why can’t Berkey sell in California?
Now you have the answer as to why Berkey water filters are banned in California. It is mainly because of the no-lead law, which prohibits the sale of non-tested and non-certified water filters.
Berkey Water Filters do not have NSF/ANSI certification for two main reasons. First, the independent lab tests we have, test for far more contaminants than the applicable NSF/ANSI certifications. Secondly, the fees for NSF/ANSI certifications are very cost-prohibitive for what is being tested.
Can you drink rain water with a Berkey?
Yes!Rainwater can be collected, poured through the Berkey water filter system, and then safely used for drinking or cooking. The Berkey purification process is powerful enough to remove bacteria, sediment and any other contaminants.
Why does Berkey taste salty?
The most common cause of the initial metallic taste is failure to fully prime the Berkey Fluoride Filters.
Can I put ice cubes in my Berkey?
Don’t put ice or snow directly into the upper chamber. Allow it to melt first. The Black Berkey Filters can become damaged and quit working if frozen.
Does Berkey remove E coli?

What do Berkey filters not remove?
Berkey removes >95% of nitrites but does not remove nitrates. If you filter water with a Berkey >99.9% of all toxic herbicides and pesticides will be removed. Berkey reduces petroleum pollutants (including crude oil, diesel, gasoline, kerosene, mineral spirits, and refined oil) by more than 99.9%.

A: The reason for having a bad taste in your filtered water is generally coming from not having enough priming filters. The unpleasant taste is from process dust that may have remained from the initial priming process. Please try priming your filters a couple of more times throughout.
How long can water sit in Berkey?
How long can water stay in my Berkey system before I need to replace it? It is recommended that you replace your Berkey water after three days. For water that is in a cold environment, the water can keep for up to one week.
