Assuming that you have a well-established cycled tank that is set up with filtration and aeration, and that you have healthy axolotls of a reasonable body condition, you can safely leave adult axolotls unfed for up to one and a half weeks without any harm.

Female axolotls will not lay eggs without a male present. While it has been known for a female to do so, this is the exception rather than the norm. In such instances, there will only ever be a small amount, and they will be unfertilized too.
Can you put 2 male axolotls together?
Site Contributor. As Eva said – Axolotls are not territorial and having more than one males in the tank would be no more a problem than having more than one Axolotl at all (I am not common with the measures of a “55 gal long”).
