Su Bingqi, a modern Chinese archeologist and a native of Gaoyang, Hebei. He graduated from the History Department of Peiping Normal University in 1934. Former associate researcher at the Institute of History of Peiping Research Institute. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he has been a researcher at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, a professor at Peking University, the director of the Archaeology Teaching and Research Office, and the first and second vice chairman of the Chinese Archaeological Society. He once hosted excavations of major sites in the Neolithic and Shang and Zhou dynasties in Henan, Shaanxi, and Hebei. The main paper is compiled as "Selected Works of Su Bingqi's Archeological Discussion". Cultural Relics Press published three volumes of Su Bingqi's Collected Works (2009, 2010).
Su Bingqi, born in Gaoyang County, Hebei Province, was born on August 21 (October 4) in the first year of the Qing Dynasty.
In 1934, he graduated from the History Department of Peiping Normal University.
From 1934 to 1949, he was an associate researcher at the Institute of History of Peiping Research Institute.
Since 1949, he has been a researcher at the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (formerly known as the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences). In the meantime, from 1952 to 1982, he was a professor of archeology at Peking University and director of the archaeological teaching and research office.
From 1978 to 1984, he was the director of the Third Research Office of the Archaeological Institute. Member of the Academic Committee of the Archaeological Institute since 1978. In 1983, he was a member of the Academic Committee of the Department of Archaeology of Peking University. In 1979, he was elected as the vice chairman of the Chinese Archaeological Society. In 1983, he was appointed as a member of the National Cultural Relics Committee of the Ministry of Culture.
Su Bingqi has made outstanding contributions to running this profession, cultivating archeological talents, and enriching archeological teams across the country in the 30 years he has been working as an archeologist in the history department of Peking University.
At 1.30 on June 30, 1997, Mr. Su Bingqi died of illness in Beijing and died at the age of 88.
